PART I
House, Apartment, Condo, Mobile Home. All of these constitute what we refer to as “home”, also as to where we live. People spend their lives split between the responsibilities of work (normally for an employer) and the balance with the responsibilities of home and family. The dream of getting out of school, getting advanced education, finding a job with a corporation and looking for the gold watch at the end of your 40 years of employment has gone by the wayside. We are no longer a society of common goals for the masses. Stories of our elder family members walking 5 miles each way to school are almost considered fairy tales. Remember the adage of “Patience is a virtue”? Now-a-days, patience is a novelty. America has developed a “drive-thru, 7/11 mentality of living”. Computers that process in nanoseconds are taken for granted and faster speeds are thought to be needed.
There is a new thought process sweeping our country. People are no longer content with the day-to-day struggle of living, constantly having the lack of finances or never having the time to appreciate what the fortunes of life have provided for them.
Welcome the Home Based Business. There are hundreds if not thousands of Home Based Businesses where people can make or attempt to make additional income. The exceptional few have amassed fortunes, a handful have made a good living, and the balance of people seeking out more have only made small amounts of money before giving up and quitting. In most of these Home Based Businesses, you conduct your daily business routines from your place of residence utilizing a phone, a computer or by mail. There are other types of “Home Based Businesses” where you can conduct your business regardless of your location. It can be done at a friend’s home, at a public place of business, sitting on a beach in Maui, or going door to door.
For the impatient society, the thought of working 40 years for corporate America has become almost non-existent. By the same token, being the impatient society that we are does not allow us the desire to let the system of the Home Based business work. If the money does not start rolling in quickly, the average person will think that the business type that they are involved in is “bogus” and that they will never make any money out of it. They quit.
The truth of the matter is; most of these Home Based Businesses are designed to make the founders of the company rich, as well as a select number of “Schmoes” that the company has appointed to create a sales force.
Give us the hype, the promise of dreams, the disguised flash in the pan, and there you have it: A NEWLY ESTABLISHED HOME BASED BUSINESS. Most people hear about these new opportunities from a classified ad in the newspaper, from a flyer that was left firmly secured on their windshield, or from a co-worker that heard about it on a late night infomercial.
What’s it going to be? What are you going to market? Are the single fathers going to be marketing hand lotions and skin products to a group of women, each of which took the night off from their families to go over to a friend’s house for a “lotion – potion party”? Guess who is sponsoring this party? Yes, the single father that has beat up hands and skin from pounding nails into wood all day.
Could it be the one where you offer your friends and family a bottle of “Grape Juice” that costs almost as much as your cable bill? Maybe we are talking about the pills that will make you “Look and feel like you were 20 again”, and it will give you the virility of a stallion. This will only cost you about the same amount as your auto insurance (monthly). I’m thinking that it might be one of those secret herbs that have just recently been found growing in the Amazon Jungle that will transform you into anything you want. This might match the amount that you spend on your utilities every month.
Doing a bit of due diligence, you will actually find a few companies out there that are perfectly designed for the average person to work as a Home Based Business. The costs involved are reasonable, and the product or service is honestly a needed item. The potential to make money with some of these companies turns out to be better than average. The greatest challenge is to follow the steps that are created by the company, while maintaining the belief that you can succeed. Let’s also not forget about the mentality that we seem to have acquired. THE LACK OF PATIENCE, Better put that one on the back burner, and spend a bit of time learning the approach and philosophy of successful people.
Most people that get involved with Home Based Businesses forget that they need to spend a certain amount of money monthly in order to conduct business. Remember – things are not just going to fall in your lap. You cannot just sit home watching TV eating Bon-Bons and expect the checks to keep coming in. WRONG.
Having a Home Based Business is very similar to owning a conventional business. There will be anticipated expenses as well as the unexpected expenses. The greatest difference is the amount of money that you will be spending on your Home Based Business will be so much less than you would on a conventional business. Nevertheless, you will need to spend money to make money. Another key to follow is consistency. If you do the same thing over and over again, you will become very good at doing that one thing or several things. To be continued…………….
